Kuumba25 - TD Bank Exhibit

📍Where in the world is Déja? 🌎✨ — Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

Happy Black History Month! What does Black History Month mean to you? More than 300 black people in Toronto submitted their answers to that question and two others for this project. I was so moved that I HAD to capture a couple, and submit my own (swipe left to see more)! Stumbled upon this TD Bank exhibit during my trip to Kuumba25 at the Harbourfront Centre. Kuumba is Toronto’s longest running celebration of Black History Month, and 2020 marks its 25th anniversary. “This year, Kuumba25 examines the past through cultural expression, ritual and memorabilia, while re-envisioning identities through art, culture and education.” This particular exhibit was created to really bring people together. Native Canadians and tourists alike were able to take time to tell their stories, and they were shared on revolving digital screens. Reading through just a few allowed me to really reflect on the question I answered. — What is one story that has made YOU who you are today?
