Kuumba25 at the Harbourfront Centre

📍Where in the world is Déja? 🌎✨ — Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

Happy Black History Month! I visited Toronto during BHM this year, and was able to see some exhibits from Kuumba25 at the Harbourfront Centre. Kuumba is Toronto’s longest running celebration of Black History Month, and 2020 marks its 25th anniversary. “This year, Kuumba25 examines the past through cultural expression, ritual and memorabilia, while re-envisioning identities through art, culture and education.” The celebration is not only composed of art, which is mostly what I’ll highlight, but also dance and sneaker making classes, theatre presentations, and music events and more. It was such a great and thought provoking experience. — What black history celebrations have you been to?
