📍Where in the world is Déja? 🌎✨ — Washington, DC 🇺🇸
Happy Black History Month! Martin Luther King Jr. is often recognized as the face of the Civil Rights Movement. He gave the infamous “I Have a Dream” speech, facilitated the March on Washington, and staged sit-ins and bus boycotts. Beyond those things though, he did so much more. Being such a prominent figure in black advancement (and going to a university in DC), it was only right that I commemorate his legacy by taking graduation photos at his memorial. It was the first stop because without some of the work he (and others) did, I may not have even had the chance to attend Georgetown University as a black woman. Though not pictured, one of my favorite quotes etched in stone at the MLK memorial site is: “True peace in not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.” — Have you ever visited the MLK memorial in DC?
